Almalasers uses a circular motion that gradually heats up the chromophores in the surrounding tissue. This effectively heats up the hair follicles. The epidermis is also protected. Patients who have been treated with other Intense Pulsed Light (I.P.L) and other lasers prefer the Harmony® XL and the SHR technique by far because it is relatively painless compared to other systems. It is just as efficacious as other permanent Hair Removal systems. And although treatment time is comparable, no numbing creams are needed. Super HR mode is safer because less heat is produced. Lower energy levels cause less patient discomfort and less risk of adverse events

The rapid pulsing capabilities of the system are enabled by the system's high average peak power, unique in the industry. The Harmony® XL includes both the SHR (Super Hair Removal) mode for "in-motion" hair removal and the regular HR mode, which is the AFT technology on 650-950 nm.
